How to get to the River Tweed and surounding countryside.

Rivers in Scotland

The river tweed runs from Tweeds Well near Annan in the west through to the north sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed in the east. The 97 miles of river winds it's way through some of the arguably most scenic countryside in the UK. Major towns through which the Tweed flows include Innerleithen, Peebles, Galashiels, Melrose, Kelso, Coldstream and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Airports

The nearest airports are situated in Edinburgh and Newcastle and are approximatley 60 miles from the river.

By Train

Rail journey is now quick frequent easy and cheap direct from the centre of Edinburgh.

Directions from Edinburgh.
30-35 miles by the A7 by road 1 hour to 1 hour 15
50 minutes by direct train from Edinburgh

Directions from Carlisle. Take the A7 turnoff and straight on to the Borders

Directions from Newcastle. Follow the signs to Coldstream and Kelso

Directions from London. East or West coast main motorways to Carlisle or Newcastle

From Glasgow either direct to Edinburgh and A7 or follow M* then turnoff to Lanark and follow signs to Peebles
